Green– Green is to remind people of the cheery spring. It also stands for the evergreen Holly, mistletoe and ivy plants. In some plays, Green is also the Paradis Tree in the garden of Eden mentioned in the Bible.
Red- Red is the colour of apple. Apple in the Biblical sense stands for the fall of Adam. It also is the colour berries which are believed to be Christ’s blood when he was crucified.
White– White is the colour for peace and purity. It is the colour of Snow
Gold– Gold is the colour of warmth provided in the freezing cold of winter. It is the colour of the fire that keeps us warm. The Star that led the Wise men to the baby Jesus was also Golden.
Blue– The blue colour that represents Mary in most Biblical depictions in churches is for the fact that in those times, blue dye was more expensive than Gold itself! Only someone rich could afford it. Here, blue is used to show Mary’s eminence.
